I don’t think this would be a good fit with my thick/coarse hair, but two of my girls have finer hair and this is been great for styling their hair without irons. It does pull a bit, but no more than a round brush would- brush with a wide toothed comb prior to using.

As someone who has very curly hair and accessibility concerns with my hands, this is an incredible product! The self close function allows me to straighten my hair without holding the clamp closed and it works incredibly well! THANK YOU DRYBAR!

Really bad… don’t buy it. The mechanism Of usage is damaging for the hair.. pulls hair out and thins hair shaft

I have medium-short hair and this tool pulled chunks of my hair out and what little of my hair that it managed to dry, was singed at the end. I even used heat protection hair products. Reminds me of the flat irons from 2007 that promised the same thing. 

This is NOT your typical hair straightener and if you’re looking for a perfectly smooth, pin straight finish like a classic straightener this tool isn’t for you in my opinion. It gives a fluffier, more natural finish like a blow out. It does have a small learning curve as well but I think it’s totally worth it.

I have thick hair and this tool is not for me. It took me 20 min to dry one batch - so I’m Out.

Definitely a disappointment. I exchanged it for a Dyson within less than 24hrs. I do NOT recommend

I rarely leave reviews on things, but this impulse purchase is actually a miracle hot tool for thin, curly hair. My Chi straightener doesn't even hold up a candle to how straight and smooth my hair feels with this. I've been using the Sol de Janeiro leave-in, the Morocconoil Light Hair Oil, and Fekkai Straightening balm with this.

I loved the idea of this tool. I normally air dry or blow dry my hair, and then flat iron, so I was really looking forward to combining those things with this. My hair, for reference, is long, curly, brown girl hair. I didn't find the tool too cumbersome or awkward to use, it's not as bulky as I thought from all the descriptions, and the bristles definitely do their job at keeping the tension in the hair. The heat is also hot enough to dry your hair, don't need it any hotter. But as I was drying certain sections of my hair to be straight, other sections of my hair would air dry partially curly. So if you run the Straight Shot over them, they just look like you brushed through your curls, and it's frizzy and not as straight. So in order to achieve the desired result, you have to re-wet your hair and blow dry that section. This just all seemed counter-productive to me and not worth the struggle. Great idea in theory, not so good in practice. That being said, I can see this working out for certain hair types, just not mine.

I have a lot of very curly thick hair, at first it was awkward to use and figure out the best way to use it. After about 10 minutes of toying around it was easy to use and the bristles definitely help keeping tension. It’s not a traditional straightener so the hot air is what makes the plates hot, it cut my blow out time in half and it didn’t leave my hair feeling crispy. The downside is the bulkyness of it but other than that it did a good job on my hair.
