It is very cooling -- even if I don't have a sunburn, I will always use this after a beach or pool day. It feels refreshing, cooling, and hydrating. I'll usually put this one and then, if I don't have a sunburn anywhere, I'll follow up a few hours later with the cool down lotion for extra hydration. If I do have a sunburn somewhere (always wear SPF!!!) I will use this on that area for 2-3 days before applying lotion
