The charcoal formula worked just as well as this one. While this one works well with brushes, the reason I bought it was to clean my Beauty Blender. My first BB lasted me a couple of months and I was using their charcoal cleanser. The last few BBs I've had all start disintegrating and cracking after a few washes. I suspect it's due to this new formula having exfoliators as they're rough and wear the sponge down. I don't know why else a makeup brush cleanser would add beads to its formula if not to wear down the BB so you have to purchase it more frequently. Brushes don't need to be exfoliated, as was obvious by the old formula.

Highly recommend the product! I can’t remember the last time I washed my brushes…. But this product motivates me to do it more often. With a little water I was able to get the majority out of the brushes and did an extra lather of the soap for good measure ( for my preference at least ) one round would’ve done the trick. My brushes are now back to their original color. And it did not take long for them to dry afterwards. Smell is subtle not strong at all.
