Love the performance . Don’t love the scent
I was really excited about this one since I love oak candles and sprays but this smells like old spice aftershave . It smells like a standard 90’s men’s cologne/aftershave . It also smells like the bath and body works vintage vinyl which I adore as an air freshener but not as a layering balm . The performance is excellent!!!! It only takes a little bit . The balm feels like silk and the smell lasts a long time . I just don’t love the masculine scent .

Not what I expected
I was excited to try this after seeing how great some of the other Rare products are. I Was hoping for a nice scent to build on but it turns out it doesn’t smell as fresh as I anticipated, only the heavy parts of the musk and no great undertones of wood. The fragrance also is too subtle, which I guess in my case it’s not entirely a bad thing! It’s a hard pass for me.

Love concept, like scent, dislike packaging
The smell is earthy, woody, and almost a little aquatic. I think of dewy Forrest. I think it smells slightly masculine leaning at first but softens more as it dries down. The packaging isn't my favorite because the tube becomes less aesthetic as you squeeze it. I really like the idea of these layering balms to customize your scent. The texture is nice not oily or any weird residue as it dries. Overall, pretty good! I like the concept a lot.

The scent is nice, stays on my skin for hours but is just not for me. I still think it's a good product and deserves a good review, even if I am not a fan of the scent. I knocked off a star though because it's very strong so it overpowers it perfume instead of mixing together.

Suggested Usage: -Wear solo, mix with other Rare Fragrance Layering Balms, or pair with Rare Eau de Parfum (sold separately) to give it a bright, breezy layer. -Use fingertips to blend into pulse points (where your body gives off the most heat).
