Love this! I tried many so called “brightening” masks but this one blew me away. I use after exfoliating…maybe a day after exfoliating and it makes my face feel baby soft. Would recommend using at night.

Wouldn’t buy again
I wouldn’t use again. It’s expensive. I don’t see the benefits. It is true that other reviewers say, it’s also hard to remove.

Long-Time User - It really Does Work
For context, I was born in CO and still reside there. The air is extremely arid and my skin is dry; however, as I've gotten older (44) I have battled bad hormonal acne. I see an esthetician who has helped immensely but I do still have hyperpigmentation from the acne and sun damage. This mask works wonders to lighten the dark spots. Full disclosure, I don't use it twice a week or whatever you're supposed to work up to, it's more when I think of it and want an extra punch, but it really brightens the skin and lightens dark spots even after one use. The cons are I don't think it smells good, it definitely stings the skin, it's spendy, and I 100% agree with the other reviewers that it is greasy and leaves a weird film. It is very difficult to get off in fact, but I also double cleanse like some of the other reviewers and it is fine. I use a disposable face towel because it will stain your washcloths. All that said though I find it worth it because it is super effective. Just make sure to moisturize sufficiently after use.

Leaves a very strange film on skin and doesnt work
This product is odd - it leaves a very strange film on the skin (but who really wants to cleanse again after first having cleansed to prep for the mask?!?!). And it doesn’t work. Huge waste of a lot of money!!!

Brightens but leaves residue
This mask is brightening but it does not wash off easily. There is an invisible residue left on the skin even when the visible product is washed off. Double cleansing is needed.

Great! I experienced slight tingling, no redness. Pores seem smaller and skin feels soft. I apply a very light layer. Just a hit of yellow product on my face. Keep on for 15 minutes and wash off with warm water and a wash cloth. I don’t have the residue left on my face others mention. Perhaps they put too much on? My face feels soft after. I will buy again.

Hard to remove and zero results
The stubborn film it leaves behind is gross. It’s thick, oily and will not rinse off. You have to use soap and washcloth to get this stuff to budge. I’ve seen zero results - does absolutely nothing.

Best Vitamin C Mask I’ve Found!
I was excited to try the Kate Somerville Vitamin C Mask after hearing rave reviews about its brightening effects, and it definitely delivers on that front! I’ve been using it once a week for the past month, and I’m impressed with how it gives my skin a radiant, even-toned glow. The texture is luxurious—a creamy, slightly gel-like consistency that feels indulgent and spreads easily. The subtle citrus scent is refreshing without being overpowering, which I appreciate given my sensitive skin.
The mask is packed with vitamin C, which visibly brightens my complexion after just 10–15 minutes. My skin looks more awake, and some of my post-acne marks have faded slightly with consistent use. I also love that it’s formulated with exfoliating enzymes, which leave my skin feeling smoother and softer. It’s like a mini spa treatment at home!
However, I’m docking one star because, for my dry and sensitive skin, this mask can be a tad irritating. I noticed some mild tingling and redness during use, especially around my cheeks, which are prone to dryness. The sensation wasn’t unbearable, but it’s worth noting if you have reactive skin like mine. Additionally, I found that it leaves a slight residue after rinsing, which felt a bit sticky. This was easily solved by following up with my usual gentle cleanser (I use Cetaphil), but it’s an extra step I wasn’t expecting.
Pros:
- Noticeably brightens and evens skin tone
- Smooths texture with exfoliating enzymes
- Luxurious feel and pleasant scent
- Great for a weekly glow-up
Cons:
- Slightly irritating for dry, sensitive skin
- Leaves a bit of residue (fixed with a cleanser)
Would I Recommend?
Yes, especially if you’re looking for a brightening mask and don’t have super sensitive skin! I’d suggest patch-testing first if you’re prone to irritation. For me, the glow is worth the extra cleansing step, and I’ll keep using it with some adjustments for my skin type.
Tips: Apply a thin layer to avoid overuse, and follow

Beware
I just used it for first time and it stung so bad so I washed it off right away. It left a burn mark on my cheek
