Formulated in 1964, Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion is a foundational Kiehl's product. The multipurpose facial astringent was created specifically with oily skin in mind. Camphor, menthol, and sodium PCA provide a cooling and soothing effect. A unique facial toner for use on oily-prone areas.

- Camphor (naturally derived from an eastern evergreen tree; can give a cooling effect to skin; effective treatment for oily skin)
- Menthol (natural cooling agent, containing 50% peppermint or other mint oils, or made synthetically by hydrogenation of thymol; used in skin care to give a cooling effect to skin)
- Sodium PCA (naturally occurring humectant; partly responsible for skin's moisture-binding capacity; derived from amino acids; highly water absorbing; increases skin's softness when added to products)
- How to use:
- Moisten a sterile cotton pad with facial toner and apply to skin in areas where needed, avoiding the immediate eye area
- Before applying, we recommend patch-testing a small amount of any cosmetic product on the inside skin of the wrist area to ascertain its compatibility with your skin
- Use with Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser for best results

I absolutely love the Blue Herbal Astringent! This has always been the single best product for my breakouts, and nothing else has ever worked the same way for my skin. When I heard it was being discontinued, I spent months trying to find a replacement and never found anything that even came close.
I was beyond excited to see it available again I literally cried tears of joy when I realized I could purchase it once more! My skin has missed this product so much.

Excellent product that's hard to get
The product is the best and I've been using it since 1989. But why is it so difficult to find? And when I do, it's in tiny bottles? I now find myself searching for alternatives elsewhere and therefore do think much anymore about Kiehl's.

Useless
I wanted to love this. It feels great going on, but after, I cannot apply moisturizer without the moisturizer clumping up. I have tried different moisturizers, including the ultra facial cream and everything clumps up when I use this first.
